Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has mourned the death of a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vincent Ogbulafor.
Ohanaeze said PDP would miss Ogbulafor because he would have used his wisdom to resolve the crisis facing the former ruling party.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, said the deceased would have resigned if he was in the position of the Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the PDP.
Isiguzoro recalled how Ogbulafor resigned as PDP’s National Chairman when ex-President Goodluck Jonathan became the president.
A statement by Isiguzoro said Ogbulafor would be remembered for always putting people ahead of him.
Isiguzoro said: “Prince of the East as fondly called by friends and family members will be missed as his wealth of experience would have been of a remedy to unravel the crisis currently facing the PDP, but if Ogbulafor was in the position of Iyorchia Ayu is facing currently as Nat Chair he will repeat history by doing the needful, he will resign honourably and restore sanity to the party by sacrificing his benefits and privileges for the unity of the PDP, as a royal Prince his words were his bounds, he keeps his promises while he lived.
“He resigned from his position as National Chairman of PDP in 2010 when Jonathan became the President, and to balance the political equation since former President Jonathan is from the South with him, and to allow a northerner to replace him, he voluntarily relinquishes his position as PDP National Chair for the north, he was a good leader with a human face”.
PDP has been involved in a leadership crisis following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
To this end, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some chieftains of PDP have been calling for Ayu’s resignation.
Wike and his group argued that the PDP National Chairman and the presidential candidate should not come from the same region.
