Munkaila Ahmadu, who murdered his parents in the Gagarawa local government area of Jigawa state, said he did so because they made blasphemous remarks against the Prophet Mohammed.
Ahmadu, a singer and member of the Islamic sect Tijjaniyya, said his parents mocked him and called him crazy and objected to his singing praises to the prophet.
OHAFIATV News earlier reported how the Policeman in the state arrested Ahmadu, 37 after he killed his parents and wounded two others on Thursday.
He used a mortar to kill his father, Ahmad Muhammad, 70, village chief of the Zarada community in the Gagarawa council area, and his mother, Ahmad Hauwa’u, 60.
In a video recorded in police custody shared with newsmen, Ahmadu said that he does not regret what he did because he was ordered to do so.
“I killed them because they refuse to accept the truth about the Prophet Muhammad (SWA). I killed them because they abused the prophet and their punishment is death, there is no repentance for anyone who used the name of the prophet in vain.
“I am a singer of praises for the prophet, this year I intend to make a video of my song and if God wants, I will do it, I will be free because God is with the right person, that’s why I do not worry about my action”, Ahmadu said in a video recorded by the police.
“My parents don’t like the prophet Mohammed because I adore him, they called me crazy, I begged my father to support my work (praise songs) and told him I’m not a womanizer, I’m not a player, I don’t do drugs, and I don’t robbery, but he refused to do it.
“My mother used to go to neighboring villages to blackmail me, telling people to reject me every time I came to sing praises to the prophet because I am crazy and refused to work on the farm.
“Now I am in police custody because according to human thought I did something wrong, but in the eyes of God and the Prophet, what I did was right,” Ahmadu said.
Ahmadu, a father of five, said he suspected his father of having an affair with his wife.
