ACCEPTANCE SPEECH BY PASTOR OKEY UDO AS ADP VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

On behalf of my beloved wife and my children, my friends, associates and well-wishers, I first and foremost give praise and glory to the Almighty God, for all of His uncountable acts of mercy and benevolence to me in my life. In this particular instance for which we are here gathered, I am profoundly thankful to the Good Lord for finding me fit and suitable to be bestowed with the privilege and honour to serve as the Vice Presidential candidate of our great party, the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in the nation’s 2023 general elections.

For recognising and singling me out of the multitude of options available to him, I thank, very immensely, our indefatigable, visionary, dynamic and motivational leader, National Chairman and the Presidential standard-bearer of our party, the ADP, His Excellency, Engineer Yabagi Yusuf Sani, JAKADAN NUPE,

Your Excellency Sir, I have come a long way with you, working under your able leadership in our chosen project of building a credible political vanguard based on the genuine foundation of democracy, national integration, unity, peace, security, stability and prosperity of our beloved country.

Having worked at close range with you and, for as long as all these years, I am one among the several others, who can bear testimony to your rare attributes of a quintessential pan Nigerian with the unquestionable credentials of a true patriot. May the Almighty Father continue to bless you, guide you and crown your efforts and struggles with victory in the critical presidential election in the year 2023

To the eminent men and women in the National Working Committee, NWC and the National Executive Committee, NEC of our great party, the ADP, I thank you for the love and confidence you have again shown to me by unanimously supporting my selection as the party’s Presidential Running Mate.

Very conscious of the adage that : “to who much is given, much is expected”, I wish to however, implore and crave the unrelenting support of all in the leadership of our great party. This is because of the obvious fact that, , the task ahead is way beyond the capacity, abilities and wisdom of any one individual. All hands must be on deck, even as I reaffirm my dedication to the course of our great party as we go into the very decisive electoral contests in a few months from now.

To the over four million card-carrying members and teeming supporters of the ADP, as always, I appreciate and extol your dogged spirit, your enduring faith, your patriotism and sacrifices made through the years that have nurtured our party from infancy to the towering colossus that it has become today on the nation’s political landscape. I am only to appeal to you that, at this stage of the struggle, if we desire to have the gold medal at the end of the day, we must remain resolute, keep up the tempo and the steam with which we have ran a long and challenging Marathon race,

From the East to the West, from the South to the North and in every nooks and crannies of the country, Nigerians are craving and clamouring for a change in the character and textures of their political leadership. Weary and heavy laden, the people are groaning and seeking for salvation from the agonies of unprecedented poverty and insecurity that have enveloped the nation under the reigns of the PDP and the APC from the beginning of the ongoing 4th Republic, twenty two years ago to date..

The elections of 2023 is a watershed in the political trajectory of Nigeria because, our people will be having another opportunity of democratically taking their destiny in their hands through the ballot box. By their decision, our compatriots will be charting a new course of history as well as, making a choice between advancement and retrogression. Our great party, the Action Democratic Party, ADP must be conspicuously and powerfully available as the Credible Alternative platform.

Your Excellency, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, come 29th of May, 2023; God willing, members of the NWC and the NEC, I wish to once again thank you for the confidence reposed in me by your decision to elevate my humble self to the exalted position of the Running mate to the Presidential candidate of our great party. . I will do my utmost best, bringing my all to bear in carrying out what is clearly, a defining and a demanding party assignment and, ultimately, a service to God and country. By His Grace, you will not be disappointed.

THE PROFILE OF PASTOR OKEY UDO

Pastor Okey Okoro Udo hails from Ndi Edike Compound, Amaekpu in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state. He is the managing director of Vog Global Consult and M’lord Udo Consult Limited. He has extensive and managerial experiences spanning over two decades both in private and public sector organizations. He has worked and consulted for local and international organizations such as Schwarzenberg Trust Service Reg (Liechtenstein /Switzerland), Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Julius Berger Plc, Federal Judicial Service Commission, Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Cubana Group to mention but a few. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Calabar and a Master’s Degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He did his PhD in Management and specializing in Finance, at the prestigious, Walden University USA. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Forensic Auditor, and a member of many professional bodies namely; Association of Chartered Certified System Accountants of America, The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, a member, Institute of Chattered Trustees and many other professional bodies. He is a strong agent of positive social change.

Pastor okey has passion for sound and ethical societal development. His calling as a pastor has taken him to many countries of the world persuading men to tow the path of a better society and economic development. He is a well-groomed Pastor and is also a member of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), a member, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and many other Christian bodies in and out of Nigeria.
Okey udo is the founder of Grace International for Triumph (GIFT) Foundation which offers scholarships to children especially those of the less privileged. He loves education and offers it to those who desire it. He is the life Patron of Eminent Youth Empowerment Foundation (EYEF) established for leadership development and computer skill acquisition. He has passion for leadership and economic development for the society. Pastor Okey Okoro Udo was the Abia State Gubernatorial candidate for Action Democratic Party(ADP) AS A DIVINE CHOICE FOR ABIA STATE, in 2019 General Elections.
