A PDP Chieftain, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu, who is also the National Coordinator, PDP Coalition, a mobilization and advocacy group, has frowned at the seemingly unnecessary power tussle being exhibited in the South West, and his believe that this particular situation is an evil wind that will blow no party any good.

In his submission, Chief Dr Kalu reiterated the need for a peaceful and purposeful leadership anchored on mutual understanding of the tenets of a progressive party like the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, insisting that any form of power struggle within the party will cost more misfortunes than could’ve been envisaged by the contending parties.

Kalu agreed that in as much as Ayo Fayose deserves the legitimate rights to seek to lead the party in the South West region of PDP, it is also imperative and of sound reasoning to acknowledge that it had always fallen on the shoulders of the incumbent Governors to be the leaders of the party in the states as they remain the first image of the party.

“When Ayo Fayose was in power, he was the leader of PDP in the South West and he performed very well as such, we have not forgotten his laudable efforts.

“In the same vein, Gov Makinde has also shown tenacity and charisma in leading the party and therefore it is logical that he should be allowed to steer the affairs of the party as this is what the concept of being “a party man” a “true party man” means.

“Mr Ayo Fayose is a respectable member of PDP, I believe the South West leadership of the party needs his wealth of experience to achieve the needed synergy and results ahead.

“The present tipsy turvy grandstanding should be dicouraged as it will only cost the party more. Any leader that want good fortunes for PDP should place the interest of the party above personal interest” Chief Kalu said.

He therefore called on the leaders to allow sound reasoning to prevail over their personal ego to allow for a positive results and a boost to the party fortunes which is the ultimate purpose of everyone’s sacrifice.
