With the general election in Guinea Bissau now over, A winner had emerged in the person of His Excellency, Umaro Sissoco Embalo with the strong support of his Prime Minister, Nuno Nabiam.
His victory was well deserved and ushered in fresh air considering the unprecedented level of leadership failures in the past.
To many, the dividends of democracy was comprehensively abysmal over the years in Guinea Bissau.
Under the government of Embalo and Nuno Nabiam, Guineans-Bissau are hoping that the new government will bring change to a country that has been plagued by political instability.
Over the years, State employees often wait months for their salaries, schools remained closed most of the year, and there is practically no modern health care in rural areas.
Guinea-Bissau has over the years struggled with corruption and are ranked 172 out of 180 states on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index.
It’s therefore very imperative for all to support the new government that’s ready to work for the overall good of all.
It’s believed that international cooperation is fairly bad and has kept donors and international actors away from the country due to the actions and inactions of the previous administration.
The Embalo government is expected to provide more economic and developmental stability that’ll attract donors and investors into the country; this can only be achieved with total cooperation and support of all Bissau-Guineans.
Truly, Guinea Bissau is on the rise!
