The Department of State Services (DSS), has dismissed reports in some quarters, that the presidential detail has killed the suspected intruder that tried to breach the security cordon around President Muhammadu Buhari in an effort to possibly attacking him while he was at Argungu, Kebbi State, on Thursday.
Conflicting reports have continued to trail the visit of the President to Kebbi State on the said day, with some insisting that the “intruder”, one Mohammed Guddare, may have wanted to hurt the number one citizen.
In the less than two-minutes video, which has gone viral, the “intruder” was seen moving towards the President in a rather ‘unfriendly’ manner.
Notwithstanding the fact that no harm was done Buhari, the secret service, has vowed to deal with its personnel, in the event of proven negligent conduct.
Spokesperson for the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya, who conveyed the position in a statement, accused the suspect of making an “overzealous” attempt at accessing the President, the mission notwithstanding.
Hear Afunanya: “The Service wishes to clarify that one Mohammed Jammil Guddare made overzealous but futile attempt to have an unauthorised handshake with the President thus breaching security protocols.
“He was stopped by the Security detail and arrested for thorough investigation.”
According to Afunanya: “Preliminary investigation revealed that he (Guddare), was not a hostile person but an overzealous enthusiast of the President.
“The Service has reviewed the video of the incident and is taking measures against its personnel found to have been negligent in their duties.”
